Petzl - Maestro S

Descender with integrated progress-capture pulley designed for technical rescue operations.

This allows for manipulation of heavy loads in lowering or hauling systems and can be used in either the primary system or back-up belay. The Maestro allows for adaptive rescue operations depending on the rescue senario.

The handle has an ergonomic shape and can release the rope progressively with integrated braking allowing a comfortably controlled descent. The handle also includes a hole, allowing for installation of a distance control cord. There is a lower connection point also which can be used to create different types of hauling systems.

The integrated pulley has a large diameter sheave on sealed ball bearings giving 95% working efficiency. The Maestro also has a hauling load limit of 250kg, perfect for rescue operations.

Once locked the rope can be taken up without needing to touch the handle, giving an intuative design.

All of these features create a highly efficient and adaptable device that can adapt to almost any rescue senario with a simple design. It has been described as an I'D with a pro-traxion built in but this device contains so many well thought out choices that it is perfect for rescue teams.
